FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GPLI and ODwire.org Partner to Bring GPLIwire2017, the First Virtual Specialty Lens Conference
June 7, 2017, Lake Oswego, OR—ODwire.org, the largest social network for eye care practitioners with over 20,000 OD members, and the GP Lens Institute (GPLI) have collaborated to create GPLIwire2017, the first online CE event focused exclusively on specialty contact lens education.
Participants can earn up to 32 COPE CE credits focused on specialty contact lenses from leading global eye care experts with all-new lectures and live wet labs from the comfort of their own homes.
The event will be hosted live online, Saturday, September 23, and Sunday, September 24, 2017.
For those who cannot attend live, the courses will also be offered on-demand following the live event until December 1, 2017. Participants can log in from any broadband-connected computer or mobile device to take courses and receive credit.
Early registration pricing through August 1, 2017, is $199 for all 32 credits, a $50 savings. Pricing increases August 2, 2017, to $249.
In addition to the courses, the conference will feature a virtual exhibit hall where participants can examine the latest technology and meet with industry leading specialty contact lens manufacturers.
GPLIwire2017 includes two tracks focused on scleral lenses, ortho-k, custom soft lenses, presbyopia, hybrid lenses, managing ocular conditions with contact lenses, and instruments that help improve specialty contact lens fitting.
Additionally, there will be two “live” wet labs including scleral and ortho-k fittings, and a special two-hour session focused on billing and coding specialty contact lens fittings.
This meeting is sponsored exclusively by the Contact Lens Manufacturers Association (CLMA) member laboratories. Platinum sponsors include Contamac and TruForm Optics. Gold sponsors are Acuity Polymers, ART Optical Contact Lens, Essilor, SynergEyes, and Visionary Optics. Silver sponsors include ABB Optical, Blanchard Contact Lenses, Boston Sight, Euclid, Tangible Science and X-Cel Specialty Contacts.
Conference profits will be donated to the GP Lens Institute (GPLI), the educational division of the CLMA. These monies will support the development of additional specialty contact lens educational workshops and resources, including a new scleral lens program for North America optometric universities.
”This is an exciting collaboration between the GPLI and ODwire.org and is consistent with the advances in technology and how they can applied to provide state-of-the-art specialty design contact lens education,” says Dr. Edward S. Bennett, Executive Director of the GPLI.
“We are thrilled to be working with the GPLI on this initiative. We’re bringing the same technology and excitement that we do to our CEwire conferences, but now we are focused on a specialty that is of great interest to our members,” says Dr. Paul Farkas, founder and chief administrator of ODwire.org.
