It's meant to correct higher order aberrations as well. It's known that he (Barsky) suffers from keratoconus. Can't really get that in $12 readers.

friggin good luck with distorting and making it sharp for the retina. Maybe he could build that into a smartphone's camera too. but maybe it's easier to just pinch and zoom
